Thumbs up Fitness Made Easy: Introduction

When I was starting out with my gym training program, I wondered what exercises were best to bulk up and enlarge muscle. I then discovered there was no set of exercises in particular that made muscles stand out; the secret depended on HOW you apply those exercise to your muscles. In other words, how do you stimulate the muscles to the desired effect?

Obviously, every serious weight training enthusiast has had that dilemma in the beginning. Not only with gym trainers, but fitness fanatics, regular gym goers, or simply ordinary folks who seek a change in physicality. Getting the facts right for the first time before any serious gym undertaking will save an exercise aficionado from countless hours of wasted effort.

Also, the aforementioned problem does not only apply to bulking up. A fitness beginner may ask, "What exercises are more optimized for losing weight?" Again, the What is not as important as the How; what counts is how you apply a particular exercise to your body or to a muscle group.

Presently, this article will not address and list down particular exercises. If there's one thing this article does, it's to convey to you four very basic rules in trying to shape your body:

Stay tuned for the next part of this fitness series: Bulking Up!

Wow, this article is very helpful! Thanks! So these basics are really important to keep in mind. I didn't know about the "less weight resistance" rule 'til now.

By the way, it just makes me wonder, why do some people say that if you regularly do gym and suddenly stop, you'd get much fatter than ever? Or maybe that's just hearsay.

Anyway, thanks for these wonderful tips!

Yeah, I had some friends who complain about that too.

One reason could probably be their physical make-up. Not everyone is created equal in terms of bodily attributes. Some people really have slower metabolism rates than others, hence, when they stop working their body they'll continue gathering fat at a level just like before.

Another observation is that after they stop gym, they simply tend to eat heavily which can nullify weeks of hard work.

At any rate, the simple fact that they bloated up after they left exercise is because they left exercise. The lesson here is that it pays to continue with whatever beneficial stuff you were doing in the gym. A small round of exercise a day wouldn't hurt.

Exercise regularly. Eat wisely. No one ever got a buff body without hard work. hehehe

Hope that helps.

True. My friends have been there and done that. We had a good laugh about this but really, cutting back the excess weight was no fun at all.
