Default The Dr. Oz Show: Belly Flattening and Fattening Foods

Who wants to have a flat belly? I sure do! In a recent episode of the Dr. Oz Show, Dr. Mehmet Oz revealed the flattening and fattening foods for the belly in a game called Flat or Fat. These are indeed helpful tips! Now we know the specific foods we should cut back on.

Here are the belly-flattening foods:

1. Chocolate - Surprised? I was too! Chocolates that have70% cocoa or higher or real chocolate are high in flavonoids and monounsaturated fats that tend to be the ones that flatten your body because they do not inflame you.

2. Peanut Butter – There is a keyword here: natural. Natural peanut butter or real peanut butter contains monounsaturated fats just like chocolates. That is why it tends to flatten you a bit. But make sure it’s natural peanut butter. Otherwise, put the lid back on that peanut butter.

3. Guacamole - Guacamole contains monounsaturated fats. Not only that, it is very soothing and relaxing for the body.

Here are the belly-fattening foods:

1. Cheese – Cheese contains a lot of saturated fat. Unless it is low-fat cheese or no-fat cheese, it can definitely add more to your belly. In general, saturated fats are inflammatory and people tend to gain a lot of weight with cheese. If you’re going to have cheese, at least make sure to get lots of calcium with it so that binds to the poop.

2. Margarine – Contains trans fats.

3. Red Wine - Red wine contains sugar. It also lowers testosterone a little bit which is how you deposit muscle. Red wine also increases your appetite so it tends to be fattening.

I’m definitely going to keep these tips from Dr. Mehmet Oz in mind every time I get a cheese craving!

But isn't red wine rich in anti-oxidants?

Yes, red wine is very rich in antioxidants. Dr. Mehmet Oz included red wine in his anti-aging list as well...I guess, Tish, it has these good antioxidant benefits, however, it tends to make us fat, especially perhaps when we don't drink it in moderation...

...Speaking of red wine, I find myself itchin' for a toast! Hehe.

Hmmm... Moderation is the key, then. A glass per meal, maybe?
