Fitness: Morning Workouts More Effective

Many people who workout can find increased benefits from their workout when simply choosing to do so in the early morning. With the recent time change, an extra hour of daylight has been added to the early morning as night falls an hour sooner. It would be advantageous to take advantage of this extra light when working out.

Research has long supported the benefits of early morning exercise. When people choose to work out in the morning, they typically work out not only longer but harder as well. Usually people are more energetic at the start of the day. When people work out in the afternoon or evening, their workouts are on average much shorter.

Another benefit to working out in the morning is that it’s just more practical. Many people like getting sweaty before they take their morning showers. Many are reluctant to exercise at lunch time or in the evening as they have plans later and do not want to have to shower again.

There is also a tendency to stick with your exercise routine if it is in the morning. The workout occurs before your day has officially begun so there are no schedule conflicts. Also, there is no temptation to skip exercise because of a bad day at work since you have yet been there.

While some people simply are not morning people, this may not work for them. However, many people find morning to be the best time to exercise.
