Medications for Insomnia
Many people suffer from insomnia and must take medication to induce sleep. Often these medications come in the form of over the counter medications that contain the drug, diphenhydramine. When taken sporadically, this medication will not cause weight gain. However, if it is taken regularly, weight gain can result. For long term sleep solutions, consult your physician to obtain a prescription medication that is less likely to affect one’s weight.
Depression Drugs

For those with depression, a class of drugs known as SSRIs is quite popular to treat these symptoms. However, some doctors believe that these drugs also serve to increase appetite. On the other hand, other classes of antidepressants such as bupropion can serve the opposite function can actually help those taking it lose weight by suppressing the appetite.
